Discover the newest craze in Austin's Ice Cream market:Thai Style Rolled Ice Cream. Today I am sharing my favorite Thai Style delicacy from Frozen Rolls Creamery and Holla Mode so the next time you are in the mood for a healthy treat you'll know exactly where to go.

What makes Thai style Ice Cream so special?
Well let me tell you a few of my favorite things about these rolls of deliciousness:
The Rolled Experience - A liquid base is poured onto a frozen pan where it is mixed, flattened and rolled right in front of you.
Beyond the Scoop - Go beyond the traditional cone and scoop with these beautiful spirals whipped up from a frozen pan and a paint scraper
Healthier Options - They offer vegan and non-dairy choices that make it a great place for a guiltless treat!
Fresh & Local - They leave out the artificial flavors and food coloring in your made-to-order ice cream. Holla Mode, one of the places I feature below, uses local dairy as an options for the base.

From the moment this angular yet rustic exterior with its aqua neon sign caught my eye on my commute I just couldn't wait try it! I'll admit I am a sucker for the details and they nailed it from the perfectly designed cups to the modern subway tiled seating area. I fell in love with the vibe the instant I walked in!
I ordered the month's special, which was adorably displayed on the entrance with paint markers, because I am always a big fan of anything involving mint and chocolate. My Husband ordered the S'mores. It looked like a masterpiece in a paper cup with the toasted marshmallows and chocolate drizzle. Mine came with an Andes bar and I added some crushed Oreos to top it all off!

Holla Mode on Barton Springs Road
The founders of Austin's sweetest food truck brought the flavors of Thailand back from their 2014 adventure abroad and we are so happy they did! Their trailer on Barton Springs Road should be your number one stop after a day at Zilker Park. I have to give credit to my Dad for discovering Holla Mode. He is a big fan of trying new foods and he just raved about this new type of ice cream he had found. My Dad and sister were hooked and I had to find out what these rolls were all about for myself.

How It Works:
The Base: The first step is to choose between local dairy milk and organic coconut milk {+ $1} as your base.
The Flavor: The flavors range from the traditional vanilla bean or cocoa to almond butter and green tea. The Add Ins: The third step is where it gets fun! You choose your "chops". These are the fresh ingredients chopped and mixed right into the ice cream which is poured onto the frozen platter right in front of your eyes.
The Toppings: The last step is one of my favorites because ice cream without toppings is just sad! Don't forget to load on your two toppings before you finish your order.
Holla Mode was my very first Thai rolled ice cream experience and one that I will never forget, but it certainly won't be my last! I am obsessed with this fresh, new-to-us way to eat my favorite dessert. Looking forward to trying out the next rolled ice cream establishment that rolls into the city!
